Working as a part-time Operations Director for my customers, a good portion of my time is spent reviewing my customers business and assessing current processes. Often through workshops with stake holders across the business, covering all elements from sales, operations through to finance.
Would it surprise you to know that more often than not, there is disagreement about what processes are and how the steps are delivered. Normally this disagreement is between the management team and those that actually deliver the services to the customers. We work through the differences, discuss and agree the best approach moving forward.
We then document these processes to a low level, so that there is clarity on not only what happens, but how it happens. This only ever results in better services to customers through a much more consistent and repeatable.
